I cannot believe we are in the fourth quarter with less than 40 days to go until the end of the year! It seems as though there is so much to accomplish before its completion. We have come so far this year with changes such as the iPad deployment. We still have so far to go because only 6th grade has the devices this year and ALL grades will have them next year. Thinking of next year has begun before this year is even finished. Next year will look different in many ways for the Learning Commons as we take on the challenge of moving forward with technology and learning! Stop by and look around!
Learning is a lifelong endeavor. Learning is not necessarily reading and studying, but using opportunities and events of life to grow. Reading and studying are important, but just not all there is to learning. With summer approaching, learning must continue for ALL stakeholders. In our community, there are opportunities for this to happen. The Mid-Continent Public Library offers a reading program to earn prizes. The Library also offers opportunities for teens to gather there and share learning and reading. Please take your child to our Library to find learning opportunities for the summer. Students loose motivation and learning during the summer and by participating in these types of activities, it will help. The Library is not the only place to look for summer learning opportunities. It is important to keep the mind working!
When you are busy, time passes so quickly. The iPad experience keeps me very busy plus my class. Looking back on this year, the Learning Commons has made a lot of changes and we still have changes to make. When students come in and talk about how different it is and how much it has changed, for the better, it makes it all worth it! People fight change and change is hard, but the changes we are making in here are making it a better place for students and staff. The students are willing to pay valuable tiger paws to come read here and learn here. Teachers are signing up the classes to come in here to use the space. I love that!
Different outside people have toured our building in the last month and I have heard many times. Our library does not look that or this looks like a really cool space for learning. We have all made sacrifices so the space can be altered and for that I say thanks! We still have a ways to go, and we will probably make small changes every year to improve the learning environment. Keep stopping by to see what "cool" things are happening in here!
