I think it is critical to always look for what you learn. I am always trying to improve my skills by reading or attending webinars. As a Library Media Specialist, my job is changing rapidly. Books in hard copy are becoming less used and technology is taking over. Parents and the community sometimes do not understand why we need updated technology because that is not how they learned. We need to help them understand the necessity of it all. Students are use to having a fast paced environment and that is why is it is important that we need to keep our students engaged using the technology the district is providing. There are so many different sources to get what we need to make each day filled with not only the standards based learning we are required to teach, but with exciting lessons enhanced by technology. My class is different from the core classes, I totally understand that. My students, however, are willing to work with classroom teachers to help them find different lessons and tools to enhance their lessons. Let's make ESMS an engaging school for our students by working together!
The start of the school year has been eventful! The deployment of the iPads went very well. We have had a few hiccups, but overall I am very pleased! The techsperts have been busy helping students with daily issues. The issues are mostly minor issues like I cannot get on Google Classroom, my iPad lost internet connection, and other such issues. Mrs. Nebel and Mr. Rubey have trained the techsperts to deal with these minor issues.
I am so proud of the ESMS staff. All teachers are using the technology to improve instruction which has students more engaged in the learning process. Because students are more engaged, there have been few minor infractions of the GRR expectations for iPad usage. I am not sure if the climate of the building is related to the iPad deployment, but it has been a great year so far. WAY TO GO!
THANKS for a great deployment everybody!
