I am finding it hard to believe that 2016 is about to come to an end. This year has flown by...so much has been accomplished in the Learning Commons. We have added new tools and the teachers and students are using them. Virtual Reality Goggles and Breakout Boxes are being used frequently by classes. The Bloxels were a big part of our last book fair. Students are using them to create video games to meet curricular needs.
The sixth grade techsperts will be chaning classes. They only have this class for semester while seventh and eighth graders will be here all year. They work hard not only on book fairs but other projects to make our space even better.
We have added another book fair in February. Due to a death in the family, the last fair was cut short. The book fairs from here on will be manned by the parent organziation but the Techsperts will decorate and advertise for the fair. We are excited to get the help.
We are working on cleaning out spaces that are full of unused materials. We started with the room the parent group is using. The teachers quickly grabbed up most of the stuff in there. We are now working on other spaces that have lots of materials. Once our teachers have had a chance to claim the materials, we will post them in the district for other teachers and buildings to claim. Then if no one claims them, they wil be offered outside the district. I am excited about this as it is part of our Innovative Learning Spaces group. Our group will be helping building design and create new spaces for student to learn more comfortably while trying to keep cost down for the district.
With a new year ready to start, I look forward to what changes that will happen. I am so open to new ideas and changes to make learning innovative and exciting for our students!
So Happy Holidays to ALL of you and think postivie that 2017 will be a great year!
